I booked flights with EasyJet this week and got an interesting email from them, inviting me to try out their EasyJetText service. This service offers free flight information:

* Booking reference reminder
* Check-in details
* Boarding Reminder

and exclusive discounts on:

* Foreign currency
* Duty Free
* Electrical goods … and more

How do you sign-up? You just click the sign-up link in your invitation email, confirm your details and tell them your mobile phone number (if they don’t have it already). They’ll send you a confirmation email and you’re ready to go!

How much does easyJetText cost? If you have a UK or European registered mobile phone, easyJetText is completely free, it won’t cost you a penny to receive their text messages. It may be possible to use the service with a non-European mobile phone, but you should check with your network operator before using the service – they may charge you to receive text messages from the UK, and these charges may be expensive.

What information will you receive? On your departure day, easyJetText will communicate by sending SMS text messages to the mobile phone number you specified when you signed up for the service. You’ll receive the following messages:

* Confirmation of your flight details and departure time approximately 4 hours before departure
* They’ll let you know shortly before check-in closes
*They’ll send you a reminder when it’s time to board

As an additional service, they’ll also send you up to 2 exclusive promotional offers from relevant airport retailers via text message.
How do you redeem retail offers? To benefit from the offer you will need to show the text message and a voucher code (if supplied) to the retailer when you pay at the till.

What if I don’t want to use easyJetText after all? At any time, if you change your mind, you can unsubscribe by following the link in your easyJetText confirmation email. Or, on departure day, simply reply STOP to any of their text messages to opt out of further communication. Either action will remove you from the easyJetText service. Note that this will not remove you from other easyJet.com databases – ooeerr I wonder what this means!!

What flights is easyJetText available on?

Currently you can take advantage of easyJetText on the following flights:

London Gatwick to Amsterdam, Barcelona, Budapest, Belfast, Cologne/Bonn, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Madrid, Malaga, Marrakech, Milan Linate, Milan Malpensa, Rome Ciampino, Nice

Glasgow to London Gatwick, Edinburgh to London Gatwick, selected routes from Bristol

EasyJetText will be available on other flights over the next 6 months, they will extend easyJetText to other flights from London Gatwick, London Stansted, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen, then to many other of easyJet’s UK airports: Belfast, East Midlands, Liverpool, Luton, and Newcastle as well as Basel Mulhouse, Geneva, Madrid, Milan Malpensa, Berlin, Dortmund, and Paris Orly.

Will easyJetText tell you if your flight is delayed? Currently, easyJetText provides information and reminders about your flight. In the future, they may extend the service to notify you of any delays. Please always check the airport departure boards to see if your flight is delayed or if there are any other changes relevant to your flight. It is your responsibility to be at the boarding gate on time (no later than 30 minutes before scheduled departure).

If you’ve cancelled your flight, they won’t send you the text messages.

You personal data is safe. They comply with the strict rules of the EU data protection act. They guarantee that they’ll never pass on or sell your personal data to any third parties.

If you have an idea on how you can improve their service, contact them. Their feedback enables them to enhance the easyJetText service and make it even better in the future for you and other users. So go on, get in contact!

The EasyJetText service is operated by StreamThru. StreamThru is owned and operated by Mantic Point Solutions Ltd, a UK registered company, based in Leeds. EasyJetText is provided to you by easyJet in conjunction with Mantic Point Solutions Ltd.

How do you sign up? When you book a flight with EasyJet to/from the airports listed above, they will send you an email, just follow the instructions.
