Social butterflies

Do you feel as I do, an ‘In-Between’, i.e. neither hearing nor deaf? Is your social life curtailed because you can’t sign or your friends can’t, your friends are hearing so don’t understand your communication needs, lip reading is difficult, most social places are too noisy or dark?

You can meet other people who have found themselves in a similar social situation. Join the groups below to make new friends, find support and advice from people who understand.

(If you hear of new groups in the UK, please let me know so I can add to this list.)

Hi Kevin,

Could I just check which group this is, ie, who it’s for exactly, which Wednesday of the month they meet and what time? I know a young man aged 26 who would be interested in meeting other heard of hearing young people.

Thanks,

Katrina

Hey Tina, I`ve been enjoying my Neptune and it`s being waterproof. It came in handy just the other day while tackling some honeydos for my mother. To finish and hear at the same time I had to waterproof my ear. Anyhow I thought I`d send you a bit of verse that might one day involve my Neptunes waterproof capabilities. Check it out from years ago when the rain didn`t matter.

Walking in the Rain

I like walking in the rain.
I guess I’m just a hopeless case.
It doesn’t wash away the pain.
It sure feels good upon my face.

I like walking in the moonlight.
You know that old man’s seen me cry.
He never ever makes things alright.
I don’t think he’ll ever try.

I like walking right at sunrise.
It makes me think of the light in your eyes.
I like walking in the rain.
It helps me deal with painful goodbyes.

I loved you, I love you, and I`ll love you.
Until the mountains meet the sea.
I only hope someday you`ll find a smile.
Remembering that you loved me.

This life is just a school of sorrow.
It’s just a classroom taught with pain.
I hope in some distant tomorrow.
We’ll meet while walking in the rain.

Happy trails…Tim
